A motorized kayak is somewhat of an oxymoron. However, sometimes a little motorization is called for.
This is exactly the case for Darwin as he explains in his video below. He enjoys fishing in his Hobie Revolution 13 kayak. These trips often cover 10 to 15 Km in distance and last about 4 to 5 hours. However, he is concerned about tiring and running out of human power, as he puts it. It is for this reason that he modified his kayak with a Mirage Drive propulsion system.
In the video below he explains his DIY kayak modifications as well as demonstrates how well the Mirage Drive propulsion performs. These modifications allow hands free fishing as well as increase his fishing range.
The motor is controlled remotely and powered by a 10.5V Gel battery.
