The Merced River A Forbidden Fruit of Kayaking (Video)

The Merced River in Yosemite National park has been referred to as the low-hanging forbidden fruit of kayakers.

Steve Fisher, a professional kayaker,  went through the preparation and acquisition of the required permits to actually run the Merced River.  He and fellow kayaker, Pat Keller, successfully took on the Merced River.  As a result the Merced River is now open to kayakers and he hopes that his efforts set a precedent for opening more rivers in our national parks to kayakers.

The following video presents the details of their expedition as well as the required planning and logistics or this expedition.
