The Apostle Islands on Lake superior is a very popular kayaking destination.
The Apostle islands are a set of 22 islands on Lake Superior. kayakers world-wide flock to the Apostle islands because they offer a unique kayaking experience of kayaking along and within caves.
However, awe inspiring they are weather conditions could make kayaking the caves more treacherous than one would otherwise expect. The dangers result form a combination of water temps which hover in the 40s but rarely above 60 degrees ( the threat of hypothermia), there is no easy escape from the water as most of the shoreline is cliff-like and the cave formations can make for tricky water conditions that can capsize even experienced kayaks.
